IPL Not on Indian Soil This Year - So what?

This is a question I'd really like to ask all my cricket loving fans, ethusiasts, fanatics - tous ces gens - if the IPL is not going to be held on Indian soil, how much difference is it going to make to you? Would you enjoy it as much as you enjoyed take-one? Or is it going to make a difference in the sense that you would feel less connected with the competition and it would be more like watching any other T-20 tournament?

I'd love to understand your thoughts as would most marketers in India who have probably already invested significantly in air time during the IPL broadcast.

Are we going to see the same number of eyeballs tuned to the IPL as last year ?

aMIT ...first and the foremost I am deeply sadened that IPL will be not conducted in Indian Soil ....iTS LIKE THE COCA COLA buying the Brands build upon by Chauhan and enjoying the benefits...BCCI DID ALL THE GROUND WORK AND DESIGNED THE PRODUCT IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT IS SELF SUSTAINABLE AND WILL REAP IN PROFITS FOR EVERY ONE ,but the actual benefit will go the the English Cricket Board.........

the sad part is that we critisize and analyse about the security situation in pakistan and srilanka , but where do we stand ....As Narendra Modi has rightly said what kind of image India has potrayed that it cannot give security ?...what signs does it give to companies multinationals who would invest for the 2010 Commonwealth games ?...really its a dark day as we have lost our battle against terrorism ...we have bowed down infront of the LeT and Taliban ...they have proved there point, that they can bring our country to standstilll.....

Ofcourse ther will be a dip in the eyeballs as the whole concept of IPl was the competition between indian cities like Chennai Delhi Mumbai etc....and no one can digest the fact Mumbai Indians will be playing a match with KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS in a stadium in SUSSEX England....

Being a Cricket Famnactic I will still watch the matches but it will be like any other tournament.....

Many questions are still unanswered , if the state governments like gujarat himachal pradesh west bengal had given the go ahead for the tournament , why did the central governemnt show their reservation???The answer is simple the issue has been politicised as all the respective states are being ruled by oppositiuoin parties ..

This issue has again given rise to the age old question which is debated time and again "Should sports be POLITICISED"

Indeed a sad day for me the hundreds of fan and the big corp[orates who have put in a lot of money for the marketing initiatives....

But the show will go on and LALIT MODI and the asshole SHARAD PAWAR will again mint a lot of BRITISH POUNDS for selling the BRAND to the ENGLISH CRICKET BOARD

well...shifting Indian preimeir league is absolute stupidity! well..lets not give terrorism color to this issue... the reworked IPL schedule was a better solution too..This is where things gone wrong congress had a major tiff with sharad pawars NCP on seat sharing issues and decided not to give security to IPL matches... loosing out a city like mumbai doesnt help the business at all....

ok coming back to the main issues...shifting IPL out of india doesnt worry me at all as a viewer... yes am cricket lover... i hv my loyalties set to certain teams too..i hv never been a cricket stadium to watch cricket - i hv always depended on TV.

what worries me about the shifting is :

1) what about the advertisers who bought the spots frm set max n indian prime time?

( the cricket based websites -like cricinfo and cricketnirvana will benefit though - we will be at office working and gotta depend on these websites for cric updates )

2) Lot of other promotional activities run by certian brands based on IPL will hv a tough time convincing the consumers!

3)what about the current indian team whos touring NZ now? they are gonna get screwed !

4) a wild thought - what about the local players who dont have a passport - i dont think it will be problem ! since we have fastrack passport delivary in place...
